How To Delete a YouTube Account on an iPad

Youtube

YouTube doesn’t have user accounts of its own. Rather, it’s connected to your Google account. It can come to this that you want – for whatever reasons – to remove your YouTube account, delete your YouTube channel, or delete your Google account altogether on your iPad.

Such procedures differ to some extent from other devices on your iPad. The question then is how to delete your YouTube account on your iPad.

Quick Answer

To remove your YouTube account from an iPad, go to YouTube > “Profile”> “Accounts”> “Manage accounts on this device”. Here, tap on the “Remove from this device” option.

If you want to delete your YouTube channel, go to YouTube Studio > “Settings”> “Channel”> “Advanced Settings”. Here, select “Remove YouTube content”> “I want to permanently delete my content”.

Lastly, if you intend to remove your Google account, go to Settings App > “Passwords & Accounts”> “Gmail”. Here, tap on the “Delete Account” option.

In this article, I’ll talk in detail about how you can remove your YouTube account, delete your YouTube channel, or delete your Google account on your iPad.

Option#1: Remove Your YouTube Account From Your iPad

Having multiple accounts showing up on your Youtube can be annoying. The natural thing to do is to remove these YouTube accounts from your iPad. Here’s how you can do it.

  1. Go to the YouTube App installed on your iPad.
  2. Tap the profile icon located at the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. Tap on the “Accounts” tab.
  4. Tap the “Manage accounts on this device” option at the end of the list.
  5. Select the “Remove from this device” option under the account you want to remove.
  6. A tab will pop up; tap the “Remove” option.

You’ll sign out of the account, and it’ll disappear from your device. That doesn’t mean your YouTube channel or the data associated with your account would be deleted. Nor would you sign out of your Google account.

Option#2: Delete Your Google Account on Your iPad

Your YouTube account is directly associated with your Google account. Deleting your Google account will delete all the data on your YouTube account and other Google services. Knowing this, follow these steps if you want to delete your Google account on your iPad.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPad.
  2. Open the “Passwords & Accounts” tab.
  3. Select the “Gmail” option.
  4. On the bottom, tap on the “Delete Account” option.

After entering your sign-in credentials and following a few trivial steps, your account will be deleted permanently. If your account was signed on another device, the data might not be deleted from there.

Option#3: Delete Your YouTube Channel on Your iPad

If you really want to get rid of your YouTube channel, you can do it without doing anything to your YouTube account. Here’s what you need to do.

  1. Go to the YouTube Studio app.
  2. From the sidebar, open the “Settings” tab.
  3. Select the “Channel” option.
  4. Open the “Advanced Settings” tab.
  5. At the bottom, select “Remove YouTube content”.
  6. Enter your Gmail address and password.
  7. You can either hide or permanently delete your content. Select the option of your choice.

After that, you have to follow a few trivial steps. By hiding your channel, the content on it would be hidden from YouTube viewers, but the comments and replies would be deleted permanently. On the other hand, all your content will get permanently deleted if you select the other option.

One thing to note is that this won’t delete the Google account associated with the YouTube channel. If you want to delete your Google account, check the previous heading.

Option#3: Sign Out of Your YouTube Account on Your iPad

If you intend to sign in with another account rather than deleting your account in the first place, here’s what you can do.

  1. Open the YouTube app.
  2. Tap on your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Select the “Accounts” option.
  4. Tap the account from the account list you want to log out from.
  5. Go to “Profile”> “Manage your accounts”.
  6. Go to your Google profile and tap “Sign out”.

It will get the job done. If you want to sign out of all the accounts signed on your device, you can select the “Sign out of all devices” option.

Conclusion

In a nutshell, you can either remove your account from your iPad or delete it permanently. If you want to remove it from your iPad, go to YouTube > “Profile”> “Accounts”> “Manage accounts on this device”. Here, tap on the “Remove from this device” option.

If you intend to delete your YouTube account (or your Google account, in other words), go to Settings app > “Passwords & Accounts”> “Gmail”. Here, tap on the “Delete Account” option.
