Recording a Meeting on the Zoom Without The Host’s Permission

It sure is a bummer If you cannot get the host’s permission to record. But don’t worry; you can still record using any third-party applications. The quality might be low, but you will get the purpose of recording the meeting.

However, if you are an iOS user, you can use the screen recording feature. Here is how:

  1. Go to “Settings”.
  2. Click on “Control Center” > “Customize Controls”.
  3. Do a quick search for the “Screen Recording” feature and click on the plus button near it.
  4. From the “Control Center”, click on the “Record” icon. (It will be a white box with two red circles).
  5. The recording has started.
  6. To stop the recording, click on the red bar at the top of the screen and tap on “Stop”.

You will find these bonus features under the Recordings tab on the Zoom website.

Automatic Recording – if you wish that the application automatically records your meetings, you can enable this feature. However, it may take up a lot of space.

Recording Consent– if people are not comfortable with recording meetings, you can turn on this feature. It will allow them to decide if they wish to be recorded. This is great for work meetings.

Give Permission to Record Meetings as a Host on Zoom

There are two different methods for this process.

Method#1: Give Access to Record to All Users

  1. Go to the Zoom website and log in to your account.
  2. At the top of the screen, click on “My Account”.
  3. Head to the “Recordings” tab.
  4. Two tabs will open: Local Recordings and Cloud Recordings. Click on their “Settings”.
  5. Tick on the box that allows participants and hosts to record.
  6. They all must be paid subscribers.

Method#2: Give Access to Record to Selected Users

  1. Join the meeting.
  2. Go to the “Meetings Toolbar” > “Manage Participants”.
  3. Select the desired participant.
  4. Click on the “More” button.
  5. Tap on “Allow Record”.

A Cloud Recording is where the recordings save in an online folder on Zoom. Local Recordings are when you save them to your computer. The former is usually for smartphones and the latter for computers.

To wrap up, the Zoom app is difficult to understand, especially its recording feature. But hopefully, this blog will be your helping guide in recording your important online meetings.
